Connecting my old sega mega drive to my lcd tv?

I've just dug out the kids old Sega Mega Drive system (I;m nuts for MsPacman!). I know it works OK, when we had the old TV it was a straightforward connection, but now I can't get it on the screen. I don't know if I need to take the aerial out of the DVD recorder, but I'm worried about doing that in case my progs don't record. I've tried going through all the AV settings and all the TV stationss are tuned in, so what do I need to do? Is there perhaps a new connection that I can get with scart sockets either end?
