What do you think about black and white decor scheme for a baptism?

I am baptising my son in November, I am a verry unique person and I did not want to decorate the banquet hall the typical blue and white that reminds me of a baby shower . So I came a cross a verry simple yet elegant invite which was black and white for a baptism so I came up with doing the color scheme black and white, The reception has white table clothes with white chair covers so I wanted to do the sash around chair black and a silver vase with white flowers in the center. I think the black in white color scheme is verry elegant but everyone including my mother think I am crazy for having black for a baptism. I need some advise does anyone have anything to say or suggest??
