Is 38,000 starting salary good for someone just finishing up school?

ok when I get done with school I would like to become an Airport Law Enforcement Officer, but kinda worrying about the pay. well first I got all the qualifications down, from the brochure at Charlotte Douglas International Airport said, minimum starting salary is 38,000. I also get paid vacation, sick and leave, dental, 401 K you know the whole nine yards. The hours I would like to do would be 6 a.m - 6 p.m. So is that pretty good for someone just starting out? Will my salary increase over the years? Also if I get married my wife would also bring in a decent salary which with hers and mine that would add up to be fine, but will I be ok for now with that kind of money.
