i have two groups to walk home with, my male friends (really immature) and my girl friend and her 2 friends (dont really talk around them). one day wen i was walking with my girlfriend some guy ask me to come so he can ask me something, so i told ma girl and her friends to walk up and i'll catch up, and the guy ask me do i knoe a someone, and wen i was about to say "no he grabed my hat and started running, i ran after him and he just left. it was one of the most scariest things that ever happened to me, cuz i noe if i caught up he would of stabed me or somethin, i dint tell my girl cuz it would make me look weak. so i decided not to walk with her no more cuz i noe im gonna see tha guy again, but i dont want to walk with my guy friends cuz there imature and i hate walkin with them, what should i do? walk alone?

my grandmother was my dearest friend, we were extremely close. my mom said our bond started on day one, she was the first to hold me. she died 2 years ago next month. i think everyone expected me to take it the hardest and i thot id be ok. i guess i umed that my experience from taking care of the elderly, my being around death every day and knowledge of the grieving process would save me from emotion. when in fact its made it worse. i took care of her at home til she needed nursing care. i was so angry that she couldnt just beat past it. sometimes i couldnt bring myself to c her, something that used to make me hate ppl when i worked in a home. she got worse, got put in hosp. out of town and stroked to the point of early onset dementia. kidney failure followed and there was no dialisis options due to her state. i had to make the decision to stop intervening. her last words to me were, "are u my granddaughter, shes funny." she flatlined while i held her hand amd while ppl in the room started screaming. i saw her nerves twitch, and despite my knowledge, i thot she might be coming back. she had just turned 62. i really dont know what to do. i lost my direction and until it happened to me, i didnt understand what that meant. she was a writer and ive read everythin 3 times or more. i cant focus. i lost my job. im too anxious to start college. i moved in with relatives, i literally do nothing. i was so comsumed at one point my catholic mother blessed the house because she believed i was being haunted by the misery that was left behind, and believed i was reliving the final emotions of my gma. i miss her all the time. i get physical pain from sadness, my heart actually hurts. i sleep all day, up all night. i dont know how to press on, the fact that i have to live the rest of my life without her, and im in my 20s, kills me. no one seems to get what my prob is. they think i should b fine by now. need some advice very much. please, thanks, sorry

I've just dug out the kids old Sega Mega Drive system (I;m nuts for MsPacman!). I know it works OK, when we had the old TV it was a straightforward connection, but now I can't get it on the screen. I don't know if I need to take the aerial out of the DVD recorder, but I'm worried about doing that in case my progs don't record. I took this physics exam in university (midterm) and during the testing period (near the last half an hour) the fire alarm rings. So ive been reading alot about for max fat loss to stay "within the lower range" of my target heart rate..(60-70%)....it was suggested that i do longer low intensity cardio 5-6 days a week...i do the treadmill...but omg i feel like im doing nothing!!!!....to stay within that "range" i am pretty much walkin very slowly (under 4mph)....i dont really see why this is "more effective".....wouldnt it better to do intervals where id do both high intensity (75-85%) and lower intensity (60-70%)? doesnt TOTAL calories burned throughout the day matter more than TOTAL fat % burned from exercise???? I want to burn at least 600 calories a day from exercise my exercise in the gym (hey better be gettin the most use of my time that i could be at home doing homework) and im not gettin that with the whole "slow and long" approach...so what should i do?

Also, blame the whole "self-esteem" movement of the 90s, where we didn't encourage the kids to work harder, but instead rewarded them for mediocrity in fear of "hurting their feelings". As a result, you have today's immature, shallow teens who are happy with mediocrity, growing into whiny, shallow, young adults who are happy with mediocrity. Also, blame silly laws infantizing teens, claiming that since they're under 18, they "don't know any better", and are not responsible for their actions. Therefore, they've been given a free p to act like big babies with nobody and nothing to mold them into men and women. And as far as their music choices, blame silly MTV rubbish. Since they're not being molded into responsible young men and women from age 13 on, instead they're molded by crappy pop culture. When you combine overprotective parents who believe their teens are innocent little flowers, a system that rewards them for a half-hearted effort, a legal system that gives them a free p to act like brats, and with nothing else to direct them, an MTV type of culture aimed at them, you get today's teens, who will sadly become tomorrow's adults, or really little kids with an adult body.

as for stage fright there is no cure really you just have to do it even though your as scared as a mouse in a cats foodbowl. ive never played lady mcbeth i did a monologue of her once but so long ago and i also get so mixed up about which mad old woman is which in shakepeares plays. breathing is really important though cos if your nervouse you tend to hold your breath and then you can get out of breath and flustered or high pitched. so even though your terrified u can pretend you know exactly what your doing. make sure you know what your lines mean too shakespear can be hard to communicate because if you dont understand what your saying neither will the audience. go through your linees and put them into your own words as you would say them or as your mom might if your a younger person. then go back to the lines and say them as they are written but with the idea in your head of what you would say if you were just an ordinary person. that way you really get to understand what she is on about and when you say the lines people will understand them. as for atmosphere....a bit airy space doesnt sound too bad. she is in a sparse catle right? so that would be pretty cold like a lobby and you can use that sterile environment to your advantage.if you have a lighting person you could ask them to do something with the lights to help you get in the mood. try it out as much as you ccan in the space itself even just when your walking through imagine the lobby as it will be on the night and if its full of people say some of your lines out loud. an audience wont ever be as bad as a lobby full of students who will think you have gone mad! so if you can do that then the audience will be easy!!!! good luck and break a leg

the file is a pdf, but it's not a vector image so i'm guessing that is why it is not importing properly. i also tried live trace on illustrator but there were WAY too many lines when i imported it into cad. the file is a deck plan of a cruise ship so it's pretty detailed & tracing it with the pen tool might be a lil difficult. if anyone has any other options i can try or can give me a step by step thing on what to do, it would be greatly appreciated! ok when I get done with school I would like to become an Airport Law Enforcement Officer, but kinda worrying about the pay. well first I got all the qualifications down, from the brochure at Charlotte Douglas International Airport said, minimum starting salary is 38,000. My grammar is not strong. Can I be a great proofreader?

I would like to try out being a proofreader, perhaps even a copyeditor some day. I enjoy reading and notice mistakes well, but I also know I am quite imperfect. I get by getting my point across surely, but, my grammar skills could use a lot of polishing up. I have always felt more comfortable with "what sounds right" intuitively than with learning grammar rules and regulations which I am more likely to forget. Even then, there are many instances when I get stuck when writing something not know which word should be plugged in. I think I have a long way to go grammar wise. Do you think I can be a good proofreader and I just have to work very hard at it? Or is it something that's not for me. I am a casual, expressive writer, and I enjoy doing that, without much thought, but I am not a writer writer.

In some ways, I did. I also had a dysfunctional family. And I went through a cynical, jaded period too, but thank God it wasn't that long. Cynical, jaded adults ARE immature, in my humble opinion. It sound perhaps like you are indignant that your peers are able to behave like kids and you haven't had that luxury. One of the most important thing you can hear from me is that, while your rough childhood may have significantly contributed to your negative, bitter stance in life, you are fully capable of choosing to handle things differently. If you are still in school, I would strongly encourage you to start meeting with your school counselor to start working through the ugly stuff from your childhood. You still have the chance to not only be a much healthier adult, but you can also have a much healthier adolescence. Best wishes to you.

Just get the 2.66 Ghz intel Core i7, most games won't even come close to maxing out the processor. You can probably run call of duty 4 without using even 25% of the processor. But you should be more concerned about the graphics card because those games don't rely too much on CPU. The GTX 285 is a really nice card, especially with the physX update (although you won't need the GPUs processing power if you use a good processor).

Ok, I've known that I want to study Architecture for as long as I can remember, and I already applied to Pratt Institute, University at Buffalo, NJIT, and of course the Cooper Union. I'm on the honor roll, have an SAT of 1810, all my courses have been AP and college courses, and I have many extra curricular activities and all that good stuff. I also have an extensive portfolio with both print and CAD, and my college essays have been described as great. However, my overall GPA is only a 3.3 (keep in mind I take all advanced courses and challenge myself, and my school does not weigh my GPA). Should I have applied to other schools? Are only three real choices ( Cooper Union is more of a fantasy than anything else! Lol) enough? I'm also applying to two safety schools that are not well known, nor do would really want to go to them, for they are more of a safety net. Should I be doing more?

23 year old finch having trouble staying on his perch?

I have a finch that is 23 years old and he has been having trouble staying on his perch. When he falls he is usually on his back and stays like that till someone helps him back on his perch. At first he would take awhile before he acted like himself again, but I know he is old but maybe someone out there has dealt with this kind of problem and could help me. Neighbour from hell. Please help!?

There's this woman living in the flat right next door to mine, who does nothing all day apart from sleeping and makes lots of noise with loud music, moving furniture, hoovering etc. at night. I have already complained to the landlord and they gave her a warning although they told me that they cannot kick her out. After that she stopped for a couple of months and I was able to sleep at night. Now she has started again and the noise is even worst especially during week days. I work long hours 5 days a week and this person is on job seeker allowance. I even tried to speak to her but it proved pointless as she seems to be either crazy or high on something (all the time). In addition I keep seeing different men coming in and out of her flat, at night. I would move but I am comfortable in that flat ( the other residents are respectable people) and it's in a nice area and close to my work. Weight loss help!!! advice please?

I hit a plateau and it lasted over two weeks -- I seemed to get past it once I varied up my workout and actually increased my caloric intake by about 200 calories. I think my body had realized I'd quit eating as much and started holding onto the weight, therefore once I starting eating more calories (roughly 1500 rather than the 1200 or 1300 I had been eating), the pounds (or kilos in your case) started coming back off. As far as the exercising, I had been doing lots of cardio; once I added some strength training, that seemed to help. Best of luck!

I have seen them several times in my life, I am 26 years old. The first time I saw one I was 8 years old, the last time was about 2 or 3 weeks ago. The first time I didn't believe what I was seeing, but it went back to the same spot at the same time the next night. The night after, I told a friend of mine about it, she didn't believe me, so I told her what time, and it ws 10 minutes before, we were not far from where I saw it, so I brought her there, of course it showed up, it was far away, so it just looked like a light, or a star, except that stars do not move, and planes do not hover in one spot, and even a helicopter has a flashing light on it, she never doubted me again. the next time I was about 16, it was broad daylight, there were 2, and they were very close. one was hovering in one spot at about a 30 degree angle, the other was moving slowly across the sky, at about a 10 degree angle, they were close enough that I can say for sure that they were disclike, they appeared to be white, the one that was moving disappeared when my friend ran inside to get his binoculars, it reappeared back where we first saw it after he came back out. after about another 10 minutes they just faded away. A few weeks ago I was walking at about 3 in the morning, I looked up at the stars, and one of them moved over towards a cloud, when it was over the cloud a green light came from off to the left of it (it had to be huge, the height of the clouds, and the distance between the white light and the green light suggests larger than one of our cities). The green light spread out like one of those red item scanner beams, and it swept across the cloud and disappeared (not the ufo, the green light). the ufo went from cloud to cloud doing this for about an hour. just before I left an airplane was flying directly towards it and it disappeared.
